Hartree–Fock variational bounds for ground state energy of chargeless fermions with finite magnetic moment in the presence of a hard core potential: A stable ferromagnetic state

چکیده
We use different determinantal Hartree–Fock (HF) wave functions to calculate true variational upper bounds for the ground state energy of N spin-half fermions in volume V0, with massm, electric charge zero, and magnetic moment μ, interacting through magnetic dipole–dipole interaction. We find that at high densities when the average interparticle distance r0 becomes small compared to the magnetic length rm ≡ 2mμ/ , a ferromagnetic state with spheroidal occupation function n↑( k), involving quadrupolar deformation, gives a lower upper bound compared to the variational energy for the uniform paramagnetic state or for the state with dipolar deformation. This system is unstable towards infinite density collapse, but we show explicitly that a suitable short-range repulsive (hard core) interaction of strength U0 and range a can stop this collapse. The existence of a stable equilibrium high density ferromagnetic state with spheroidal occupation function is possible as long as the ratio of coupling constants Γcm ≡ (U0a/μ) is not very small compared to 1.

Calculation of Quasi-one-dimensional Interacting Electron Gas Using the Hartree-Fock Method
In this paper, the Hartree-Fock method has been formulated to investigate some of the ground state properties of quasi-one-dimensional interacting electron gas in the presence of the magnetic field. The bare coulomb interaction between electrons has been assumed. For this system, we have also computed some of its thermodynamic and magnetic properties such as the energy, pressure, incompressibil...

Using Hartree-Fock Su-Sheriffer-Heeger (HF-SSH) model, we have studied the dependence of the energies of the ground (magnetic triplet state) and the first exited (nonmagnetic singlet state) states of the size-2 trigonal zigzag graphene nanoflake (size-2 NF) on the intensity of an external in plane static electric field at zero temperature. We identify a transition from the magnetic triplet stat...

متن کاملNote on the Time Dependent Variational Approach with Quasi-Spin Squeezed State for Pairing Model
A simple many-fermion system in which there exists N identical fermions in a single spherical orbit with pairing interaction is treated by means of the time-dependent variational approach with a quasi-spin squeezed state with the aim of going beyond the time-dependent Hartree-Fock or Bogoliubov theory. It is shown that the ground state energy is reproduced well analytically in this approach. 1 ...
